INDONESIA SURF TRIP, no one surfing -

Showbag flogging a dead horse , what do they say about insanity ? doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result .

the big winner in this funny little exercise has definitely been Indo. If people can endlessly guess at good spots and 'not be anywhere near' @john.calhoun's special little camp corner, it kinda rekindles what Aussies have known for 50 years about Indo. still an incredible surf region full of anything you care to find if you have time and inclination to have a bit of a look round. why pay some kook to be yer daddy? maybe if you're pressed for time and want someone accountable if you don't score?

I want to know if the two “ committed “ euro’s , were , actually ……………committed ! That’s weird, that’s queer, that’s crazy, that deserves a long hard look.

it's disappointing. whatever else he was, @indo-dreaming was gormlessly honest. I genuinely respected that. this Calhoun guy has claimed honesty while beating his chest.. but, yeh, transparently loosey goosey as..

Hey B6.
Agree re @indo.
Least ya knew he was engaging honestly, even if in my views some of his opinions were pretty ignorant, or in case of ME deluded.
Reckon he would be an ok bloke to run across at some surf spot and have some waves and a beer with.
Seems his set up in Telos us low key and good for locals, and he never really tried to push it on these pages.
Keep those pics coming supa.
I've nfi where that left is. :)

B6, you used the past tense re indo. Made me realise I haven't seen him post for a while. Is he no longer around?

Shafted .

I liked Indo.
Hope he's ok.

Gotcha. That explains the disappearance of those never ending political argument threads. It's been a much more fun site without them i reckon.

You can say that again.

@basesix nah not me , I took the photos with iPhone 13 , didn’t notice the reflection until someone else pointed it out .

G'day @Supa, when you first started posting photos of that location it looked immediately familiar. Then the photo of the "judging tower" confirmed it. We bookended a boat trip at that spot back in 2019. There was no one staying at "the camp" and we never saw another boat or any surfers. We went to land a few times and wandered through the camp and the nearby small village. It's a beautiful, peaceful location alright.
The wave itself is exactly as you have described it. It's an incredible swell magnet. Definitely a B-grade wave by Indo standards but can get A-grade given the right direction/tide/swell etc but that's pretty rare according our boat owner/surf guide. Given that and the lack of other waves nearby they actually rarely go there apparently. The fact that it is pretty much off the radar is a bonus for sure. When it got proper big there was a super fun little novelty wave right down the end on the inside. I'd definitely go back there. Cheers.

There was a boat this year , they at first stayed down the end where you’re talking about and had that to themselves before a few moved up to where we were . I’ve been fortunate enough to get it with perfect direction . Sussed out a few other breaks when swell was up and plenty of potential on the right day . Hope you get back there one day, it’s great if you have a crew of friends together , there’s a unwritten set of rules for the land camp and if you’re a prick ( on land or water ) then you’ll not be allowed back . Always a great vibe when I’ve been there . Friends of friends recommendations for access, not advertised.

Yeah @Supa that was exactly as it was described to us by the boat owner/surf guide we had which is obviously what makes its so good. Beautiful photo above. Beautiful spot. Cheers.
We are looking for three (3) surfers to make a surf trip to Indian Ocean Indonesia in August - new location, not likely to be anyone surfing, prime season with steady SE monsoon dry season wind and consistent SW swell.
I have added this surfEXPLORE project to my listings on the Waverii platform, access via the link for details - thanks!
