Amazingly Trump wasn’t in power 18 months ago, and the US wasn’t heading down the road to authoritarianism
Funny how little imperceptible things like that might make a difference.

Yo Sexxy:
Paranoia:
A state of excessive and unfounded suspicion and distrust, can manifest in various ways, including difficulty trusting others, being easily offended, and a tendency to see hidden motives in others' actions. Individuals may also exhibit hypervigilance, hyper-sensitivity to criticism, and a belief that the world is a constant threat.

As you were oblivious to Trump's first term I'd suggest revisiting that oblivion.

All this angst and observance, it ain't healthy, Sexxy.

Well Trump was a lot less aggressive and surrounded by normal people to keep him in check in his first term
This term is totally different with right wing loonies everywhere, and having had 4 years to think about it.
Some people are interested without the angst
Which is overrated.

I guess as long as you can keep saying sexxy
You’ve got a very good point
The only reason you quote someone else saying excessive and unfounded is because you’re unaware of what is actually happening in the US .
Nice try anyway
Even if it is overeactive crap .

The loose cannon just scored a trillion dollars of deals wth the Arabs….
There’s some jobs in those deals especially the 200 billion dollar order for Boeing.
Thats on top of the 1.4 trillion Arab investment in U.S. manufacturing in tech etc.
Dealing for peace instead of shooting is better yeh.?

Not a fan of trump frowny man….a fan of the U.S. not being broke anymore.
Aren’t you glad they are doing OK?…..nothing wrong with a prosperous U.S.
….and confused Jeff ….iran and global charity diverted to the leaders backed them and then they hid in Qatar.
Perhaps some new deals can swing their loyalty away from letting bad guys hide in their country.

trump's 'authoritarianism'

https://reclaimthenet.org/germany-halts-afd-far-right-label-amid-us-pres...

"...The move follows a formal request by US Senator Tom Cotton, who called on the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, to suspend intelligence cooperation with Germany. Citing what he described as the misuse of intelligence tools for political targeting, Cotton emphasized that actions such as monitoring, infiltration, and surveillance of opposition parties are reminiscent of authoritarian regimes, not democratic allies.

“Rather than trying to undermine the AfD using the tools of authoritarian states, Germany’s incoming government might be better advised to consider why the AfD continues to gain electoral ground,” he wrote..."

something for jeffy to ponder...

"...As I interpret the polls, the conclusion I have come to — and it is an unpopular one in some circles — is that the American people dislike the Democratic Party even more than they do Donald Trump. Do you agree with that reading of the polls and other data? If so, what would you advise the Democrats to do?

There is no question that you're correct on this. The problems run deep, and we Democrats need to repair our brand image in very substantial ways. The polls and other data are clear: the public is hostile to the Democrats..."

Is the Democratic Party less popular than Trump? Hard to say. It appears there is a change going on with in the Democratic party with younger/newer members of congress starting to assert themselves like Hakeem Jeffries and AOC and watch dogs like Schiff and Raskin. But are they doing enough or is what they are doing getting enough attention? The party gets a lot of flak for not fighting hard enough or refusing to use Republican tactics and trying to take the higher road. Maybe they will get in the mud eventually and put up a good fight, There is more than enough ammo for them to bury Trump. All of the above mentioned are sounding the alarm and fighting back, American's are slowly coming around as is shown in Trumps approval ratings falling on most if not all issues. The courts are blocking Trump actions and largely ruling against him. His grift and fraud is becoming more in your face and is not going unnoticed by the American people. The economy is dipping even though the market seems to have stabilized (though this will most likely change if Trump comes through with his threatened increase of tariffs on 150 countries if they don't call him soon), despite what the official whitehouse instagram site says. Trump flaunts his deals with China and the UK as big wins, I don't think most Americans are sold. Especially since these deals did not better the trade situation that existed before Trump, they merely are temporary fixes for the Trump tariff mistake. Expect the supply chain disruption will hit hard in America in June and with it the cost of goods. That is when you will start to see more outcry by those who refuse to be political. Unfortunately any real change for the democratic party will not happen until Nov. 2026, Sure there are Republicans starting to speak out against Trump but most are afraid of his threats. These anti MAGA Republicans will not do the right thing until Trumps grip on DC weakens or some pivotal event occurs or public outcry becomes louder. A suffering economy could be that event. I've heard of veterans march on DC in the first half of June, that could be an event. Trump going through with a parade in his own honor for his birthday at the end of June could be an event. I expect and hope June could be a very rough month for Trump and hopefully a spring board for greater opposition. His immunity, luck, and defying of rule of law has got to come to an end at some point. No one can get away with as much as he has for ever.

“ His immunity, luck and denying of rule of law has got to come to an end at some point.
No one can get away with as much as he has forever “
Not necessarily, that’s how autocratic dictatorships start .
Eg Putin , Xi , Kim Jong, Viktor Orban of Hungary , and all other authoritarian regimes around the world,
It depends how aware the people are and the opposition and how the people react.
Also how complicit the media and other institutions are.
Large scale corruption is essential for authoritarianism to begin,
Because the Leader needs to surround himself by family and other loyal people who he enriches to form their own oligarchy.
