Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 12th November)

Best Days: Thursday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning

Recap

Yesterday morning didn't seem to offer the expected size to 3-4ft+ across the South Arm but the afternoon saw more solid waves across the region, although winds were onshore all day.

Today an easing SW swell from 3ft was a little lumpy and raw with only a light local offshore but since then S/SE sea breezes have kicked in.

This week and weekend (Nov 13 - 16)

Into tomorrow our current SW groundswell will be replaced but a S'ly swell, keeping 2ft waves hitting Clifton before fading through the afternoon. This swell was generated on the backside of the low and should offer fun waves for the morning surf under N/NW winds ahead of afternoon sea breezes.

Come Friday morning the surf is due to be tiny, but a strong front pushing across us followed by a better aligned system overnight should bring with it an increase in new W/SW swell for Saturday.

Size wise we should see 2-3ft waves Saturday before fading from 1-2ft Sunday morning. Winds should be offshore from the W/NW Saturday morning ahead of afternoon onshores, and then Sunday funky W'ly tending W/NW winds.

Next week onwards (Nov 17 onwards)

Another similar but slightly smaller pulse of W/SW swell is due to build through Monday and ease Tuesday from another couple of relatively weak but broad polar fronts pushing through our swell window. A kick to 2ft through the day is due Monday, holding through Tuesday before easing from 1-2ft Wednesday morning.

Winds should be good each morning and from the W/NW-NW with afternoon sea breezes, while Wednesday looks to offer straighter N'ly winds.

Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards at all as the storm track focusses itself towards WA and SA, but more on this Friday.

Hey, Ben.... Have you heard from craig? If he's where he said he's going, it'd be pretty sizey.... Roaring is solid 5 foot... Even South arm is 3 foot..... Lovely day down here too....

By all accounts he's been enjoying some good waves over the last few days. Could be on a hiking mission right now tho'.
