We know his name not 'cos he's slowly ascended the QS rankings, not 'cos he's a sartorially splendid freesurfer, but because Kai Lenny, perhaps moreso than any other surfer, is a wave riding virtuoso. Don't matter what's under his feet, and it don't even matter what size wave he's atop, Lenny is equally adept in two foot boat wakes or the biggest waves Jaws can serve up.

It makes him an unconventional star, he's not chasing any one particular goal, and it also provides for an appropriately punny title, Paradigm Lost. Full marks to whoever came up with that.
