Come on Stu.. everybody knows that you can't go on an Indo surf trip these days without a dedicated camera person on the beach, a go pro in the mouth and another in the hand of your mate in the channel. Even kooks like me wearing a minimum of three Go Pros at any given time. Including on the drive to the beach.

I caught a wave....I surfed the wave...I looked to the camera....The cameraman gave me the thumbs up....Everyone will see how great I am.....

Whats with claiming rather than connecting through to the other 75% of the wave? From my experience it's a pretty long wave........still I would probably have a claim if I got some of those waves

To claim like that once is just acceptable, to do it over and over again in that palms up can you believe how amazing I am style totally detracts from the wave he's just ridden and makes him look like well, a complete tosser.

I think the thing about claims in free surfing is people who are doing it are looking for attention its a way of saying with body language, hey look at me did you see what i just did?.

When its every wave its like them saying look at me look at me…then it makes me think are you surfing for yourself or are you surfing to try to prove something to others?

Pretty good but pretty normal barrels for deserts . Imagine if every body in the water was claiming there barrels . Non surfers would start to think surfers are such wankers . A quick Google of felipe cesarano shows he is a real big wave surfer with pictures at giant nazare chopes etc etc . Brazilians are well known for claiming & I've seen far bigger claims than his . I wouldn't worry about it

Yeah caml just look at the current French contest. Jadson just goes nuts he is claiming before the wave is even finished - and it was a very average wave - and the guy has zero style.

To me it looked like a few different waves from different sessions, I could be wrong, but maybe they were his best one or two from each sesh.

If I had got any of them I may have made a claim (or a no claim claim) as I would be pretty fucken stoked myself.

It's really just a edit of all the best claims. Who cares....I'd be happy with just one of those pits ATM.

Back in the mid / late 90s I lived in g.land for a few years and lots of Brazilians came to the camp . Mostly the worst guests but you couldn't defeat the spirit & team mentality . I got used to seeing guys claiming 2ft tubes that weren't even tubes .they were a metre in front of & they're head between the legs poosquatting ! If you haven't seen Brazilians claim before then you are so far out of the game . I mean that was over 15 yrs ago , surely we are all familiar with this by now . AND surfing the grower is crazy heavy & nobody took off down there when I was living there in 03 . I rode my waves thru there plenty but didn't takeoff down there its fucking shallow .

Johnno the bar fly from the footy club was really depressed.

He was fat, acne scarred and balding.

He hated his job, got no respect from anyone and no love from the ladies.

Even his sole mate , old Maxxy , had had enough of him and did nothing but hang shit on him constantly.

He decided he was going to end it all and he'd heard that drowning was a peaceful way to go so he booked a ticket for a pacific cruise on the QE2 with the intention of one final blowout on the piss and then he could simply slide over the railing and disappear forever into the great blue sea.

Johnno was surprised to find himself getting excited about the trip as he strode up the gangway on the day of his departure. It'd been a while since he'd been happy about anything , but since hearing that Kylie Minogue was to be the the guest entertainer for the cruise he couldn't help but feel happy - Kylie had long been his idea of the perfect woman.

The trip was going well as the great ship steamed into the tropics until late one night when the captain was distracted by the beauty of the moonlight on the ocean waves and failed to notice an uncharted reef laying just below the surface directly in the boats path.

The QE2 hit the reef with a lurching crash and a fatal gash was rent in the ships hull.

The boat began to take water immediately. Within minutes she was lying in her watery grave, all souls having gone down with her.

All souls bar two - Johhno from the footy club and Kylie Minogue , whom Johhno had bravely rescued by swimming to safety with the petite superstar clinging tightly to his voluminous gunt.

The currents were strong in that part of the pacific and the two survivors were lucky enough to drift towards the sole speck of land in the huge sea and woke on the beach of an island the next morning.

The island was something of a paradise. Although totally deserted, every requirement to sustain life was available . Abundant fruit and edible plants, many types of tasty animals and a spectacular waterfall providing ample fresh water.

Johhno from the footy club and Kylie Minogue were lucky that the currents that delivered themselves to the island also deposited all kinds of useful items from the shipwreck . From fishing gear to furniture and materials and tools with which to craft a comfortable home .

The two not only survived, but thrived in their new environment. They built a house and a new life together there on their deserted tropical island paradise.

Johhno from the footy club found that the island sun and healthy diet cleaned up his acne and his large beer gunt soon faded away to reveal a shredded physique that Johhno had never dared to dream he would possess. His moods and self esteem improved amazingly.

He's the one getting bullshit barrels in 1ft of water, so I don't think he'd be too concerned what gets written on here about his claiming

I,m not saying that wasnt an incredible tuberiding display and some in very heavy barrels so perhaps even one excited display of throwing his arms up would be natural but fist pump after pump and claim after claim staring at his camera boy was just a bit crook to watch, would,ve been the same if he had fallen flat on his face after coming out of each tube , just a style thing rather than a skill thing. Never saw Lopez claim a tube , perfect form

Yes that is the gist I got out of it as well. Good yarn couldn't work out where it was going until the the very end. Good fun.

It surprises me because I didn't notice what the guy was doing . Had no idea he looked at the camera . Only getting involved here do I read what he did was unapproved . Alls I saw was the wave over & over . Mind surfing it maybe . Mostly I studied the wave & memories of riding waves down there and its scariness . Its not as freaky as one palm mind you but very deadly down the end where you pull off . Theres rocks that signal the complete finish of the ride . Waves behind the one you ride are worrying . Many have come close to drowning down there because of the current holding them stationary and ten ft swell detonating in craggy shallow reef in front of a cliff .
