Whats with the new Margaret River surf reporter? Move to town , become a surf reporter of somewhere you don,t even surf and then overcall surf by X2 size and at least that by quality. I foresee a lot of 20 ft 10 out of 10 days coming this autumn. Not to mention the sickening unbridled enthusiasm , is he getting paid by how many people he can get to surf the point on any given day? Can,t even have a uncrowded surf when its average because he thinks it,s pumping. Maybe he used to do reports in California somewhere. Get an act.

The wave of the day (north-east coast of NZ) looks suspiciously like one of my old favourite breaks from the sixties and seventies REVERSED> I'll just call it the Heads. Maybe some of the present locals may care to comment, without disclosing the actual location. I can remember many great uncrowded days here when the right conditions prevailed.

Given the 2 hour time difference between QLD and WA, why do the Sandgropers have their forecast notes posted before
us Banana Benders?

I know the waves aren't exactly pumping in SE QLD at the moment, but the report has been very late of late , lately.
Better late than never ,though.

Got a week at home for school holidays in Northland NZ, current long range models have a 4-6m SW Swell for West Coast 3rd and 4th October and a very rare 3m east swell for 30th Sep - 1st Oct. The East Coast have some incredible set-ups that lay dormant for sometimes years. Its moved around a fair bit the last two days but interested in opinions, WAMS looking pretty tasty - what do you reckon??

Gday Ben and Craig, I was just wondering in the automated Middleton/Wiatpinga surf forecast where do you get your wind forecasts from or are they generated by your computer model as well? I have noticed that they differ from the forecasts given by the BOM in both speed and direction on occasion. Also how often do your wind forecasts update? Just wanted to know as it could mean the difference between a 3 hour drive for crappy surf or missing out on good surf, cheers.

We've finally made an addition to the surf report page so that you can easily access the Swellnet Forecast Notes via a tab (next the the WAMS).

The idea is that each region will have a blog-style forecast section, which will be updated a little more regularly than the standard Mon/Wed/Fri notes - basically whenever we see anything of interest (that is outside the scope of a regular forecast) it'll be discussed in this area.

We have migrated all of Monday's forecasts over to this section and from Wednesday onwards all future forecast notes will be uploaded in this way.
