This week and next (Jun 27 – Jul 5)

Today's oversized increasing in W/SW groundswell will become larger tomorrow as the XL swell fills in, pushing the Margaret River region to 15ft+, 4-6ft in Mandurah and 3-5ft in Perth but with strong to gale-force W/SW onshore winds, easing through the day.

The swell should start to ease later in the day dropping Friday from the 12ft+ range across the South West, 4-5ft in Mandurah and 3-4ft in Perth. Winds will remain onshore but out of the SW-S/SW across the South West, opening up protected locations, while Perth and Mandurah will likely see a morning S-S/SE breeze, also favouring protected spots.

Saturday looks suss with the swell easing further and W/NW tending strong NW winds in the South West. An early N/NE breeze may be seen in Mandurah and Perth, quickly shifting N/NW. Size wise Mandurah looks to ease from from 3ft, 2-3ft in Perth.

Our large long-period SW groundswell event for early next week is on track, with the Long Wave Trough moving east, dragging with it back to back polar storms.

Fetches of severe-gale W/SW winds will be projected up towards and then under our south coast, generating building surf Sunday though with strong W/NW tending W/SW winds.

Monday will see the long-period SW groundswell peaking, reaching 12-15ft+ across the South West, 4-5ft in Mandurah and 4ft in Perth along with onshore SW tending S/SW winds.

Tuesday looks to be the day to surf as winds become variable and light E/SE offshore across the South West, E/NE further north. Conditions will likely be lumpy still in the South West with the lack of strength in the wind but improving with easing 12ft+ sets, 3-5ft in Mandurah and 3-4ft Perth.

Wednesday morning looks clean again with an E/NE offshore as the surf continues to ease.

Longer term there's a few funky swell sources on the cards but plenty of activity. More on this Friday.
