We’ve got a reasonably fun week of waves ahead for the Surf Coast. After an extended period of quality groundswell (last week) with a lot of west in its direction, we’re now looking at around five or six days with more southerly orientation.
We’ve got a great weekend of waves on the cards. Persistent offshore winds will maintain clean conditions along the South Coast both days, and even though wave heights will ease through Saturday, there’ll be plenty of excellent options (banks pending, obviously).
Fresh north-west winds and a continuation of strong W/SW swell will continue to favour the Surf Coast all weekend.
There’s only one major surf focus for the weekend and that’s a building trade swell that’ll peak in size later Saturday or early Sunday, although the overall trend will be slow so there should be much of a difference either side.
Two small south swells are expected to be in the water on Monday. The primary swell will be related to some highly refracted energy originating from the intense low passing just south of Tasmania on Saturday.

Tradeswell is the main focus of the weekend, which is good because it’ll offer a wide range of surf possibilities across SE Qld.
The forecast notes will be nice and short for today, because the weather maps are devoid of anything interesting.
A second phase of long period swell is expected to arrive later today, which should keep most areas flush with a similar level of inconsistent swell through Tuesday.
