South Australian Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 31st May)

Best Days: South Coast tomorrow, South coast Thursday morning

Recap

OK waves for keen surfers on the Mid Coast yesterday with cleaner conditions and 2ft sets across selected magnets, large and poor still down South.

Today the swell has eased off further in size and strength leaving tiny sloppy waves on the Mid and sizey though average conditions down South.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Jun 1 - 7)

Unfortunately the coming forecast period isn't looking too flash at all.

Tomorrow is probably worth making the most of even though it won't be great with a further decrease in mid-period S/SW swell from 2ft+ off Middleton, a touch bigger at Waits and Parsons and more to 3ft.

Winds will be variable and likely tending N/NE, giving into weak afternoon sea breezes.

An early W/NW breeze should be seen Sunday morning but the surf is likely to be tiny, building slightly into the afternoon with a fresh SW change and weak windswell.

A deepening low moving across us will bring this change and a further increase in S'ly windswell for Monday to a junky 3ft+ off Middleton but with fresh S/SW winds.

This low is expected to linger off the southern NSW coast and as a result we'll see persistent S'ly winds aimed into our South Coast with the S'ly windswell easing Tuesday, lingering Wednesday as the swell becomes small to tiny.

Winds will finally shift back to the NW on Thursday but size wise, there isn't expected to be much, with just a small and inconsistent background W/SW groundswell from the Indian Ocean.

A strong mid-latitude low dipping east-southeast through our swell window will generate a strong but short-lived fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds through our western swell window, with the swell due to arrive Wednesday afternoon, kicking to 1ft+ on the Mid Coast and 2ft off Middleton, easing from a similar size Thursday.

Longer term we should see some better swell for the South Coast with more favourable N'ly winds into the week starting the 10th of June, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!

Looks like we are getting payback for those couple of good weeks we thankfully did get in May!
