South Australian Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 2nd March)

Best Days: Mid Coast late Sunday, South Coast desperate surfers Tuesday and Wednesday mornings

Recap

Super fun Mid Coast waves yesterday with 2ft of swell on the outgoing tide through the morning, much better with the afternoon push with clean 2ft+ sets.

The South Coast was onshore but workable, much better this morning with clean 3ft+ sets off Middleton. Make the most of it, as the coming period isn't too flash at all for the region.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This weekend and next week (Mar 3 - 9)

An onshore change overnight tonight will signal a run of poor persistent onshore winds across the South Coast from tomorrow through Tuesday.

This will be linked to a strong slow moving high pushing in from the west, directing S/SW tending S/SE and then SE winds across the state.

A new long-period SW groundswell for tomorrow morning will be spoilt, with 3ft infrequent sets due off Middleton, easing back through the afternoon.

The Mid will also be bumpy with the S/SW breeze and 1ft of leftover swell.

There's been a slight upgrade in a new SW swell due through Sunday though, produced by a weak but persistent fetch of W/SW winds pushing under WA and under the Bight today and tomorrow.

We should see this kick up a little 1-1.5ft of swell for the Mid Coast with the large incoming afternoon tide, while Middleton is due to build from 2ft in the morning, to 3ft into the afternoon. S/SE tending S/SW winds will favour the Mid over the South Coast.

The swell should ease back from 3ft down South on Monday morning with 1ft+ waves on the Mid Coast as winds continue to slowly swing more S/SE-SE.

Tuesday may see slightly better E/SE winds developing down South but with no decent swell left in the mix, more so 2ft off Middleton.

Better E/NE-NE winds are expected on Wednesday and Thursday though with no new swell at all resulting in tiny waves off Middleton and weak small sets at Waits and Parsons.

Longer term there's some decent swell on the cards for the following week starting the 12th of March though with poor winds. More on this Monday, have a great weekend!
