Best Days: Friday and Sunday mornings down South, swell magnets down South Monday

Recap

Fully tiny and bumpy waves on the Mid Coast yesterday morning while the South Coast was fun at exposed breaks with offshore winds, tending W'ly mid-afternoon before easing into the early evening.

A gusty S'ly change moved through overnight with a poor junky windswell on the South Coast, while the Mid Coast saw tiny 0.5-1ft waves from the change.

This week and weekend (Dec 15 – 18)

Today's onshore change across the South Coast is linked to a strong polar front that's currently hitting Tasmania.

A great fetch of W/SW gales are being drawn out to the polar shelf, generating a moderate sized S/SW groundswell for tomorrow that should build to 3-4ft+ at Middleton late afternoon and 5-6ft at Waits and Parsons.

Friday morning should still reveal good 3-4ft sets at Middleton, easing steadily back to 2-3ft later in the day.

The Mid Coast is expected to remain tiny with the swell being too southerly in nature.

Unfortunately poor SE winds are due across the South Coast tomorrow, tending S/SE into the afternoon, but Friday looks good with a variable wind due before a SW change moves through early afternoon.

Therefore surf before mid-late morning.

Come Saturday small leftovers are expected with a S/SW breeze, creating poor conditions.

Into Sunday a small mix of S/SW windswell and groundswell are due down South. The groundswell will be produced by a small polar low over the coming days, and the windswell from the front Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Not major size is due with 2-3ft waves expected off Middleton and 3-4ft+ sets at Waits and Parsons. We should see a E/NE breeze develop through the morning, creating fun conditions at Goolwa and Parsons.

Next week onwards (Dec 19 onwards)

Smaller but much cleaner surf is due Monday with a fresh offshore N/NE tending NW breeze, and swell magnets will be the pick.

Into the middle of next week some moderate sized SW groundswell is on the cards but with what looks to the onshore winds for the South Coast again. More on this Friday.
