Recap

Fun sized E/NE swell yesterday in the 2ft range, similar today although easing with offshore winds most of the day.

This weekend and next week (Mar 17 - 24)

Not much on offer this weekend with weak high pressure leading to NW- N’ly winds Sat and a small NE windswell to 1-2ft in the a’noon.

A front and leading edge of a new high bring fresh S’lies Sun, tending SE in the a’noon and small, low quality S swell to 2ft at S facing beaches.

Into next week and another front Mon continues S’ly winds with a slightly stronger S swell to 2-3ft at S facing beaches.

A high quickly slips E of Tas later Mon with NE winds developing and a potential NE windswell through Tues and Wed as winds feed into an inland trough (see below). We’ll see how it’s shaping up Mon but at this stage expect 2ft of NE swell Tues into Wed. Winds look to shift SE on Wed as a new, reinforcing high shifts across the state.

Source of small NE swell next week

Later next week another frontal progression approaches from the Southern Ocean with an embedded low expected to track NE into the Tasman . We’re likely to see some moderate S swell pulses from this system along with S’ly winds beginning from Fri and extending through next weekend.

That's a long way away - but we’ll keep tabs on it and see how it’s shaping up on Mon morning.

Have a great weekend and seeya then!
