Recap

Small S swell yesterday in the 2-3ft range at S facing beaches, with SE winds. Today has eased further with a few 2ft sets at S facing beaches and light E’ly breezes as high pressure moves NE of the state through today.

This weekend and next week (Nov18-Nov25)

No great change to the weekend f/cast. We’re past the peak of the current S swell event as the large low pressure system drifts towards New Zealand, weakening as it does so and a more mobile high pressure system moves north-east into the Tasman Sea, bringing N’ly winds.

N’ly winds freshen through Sat, bringing a spike in NE windswell through the a’noon into the 2ft range.

This should peak through Sun morning in the 3ft+ range as a front pushing W’ly winds arrives and winds clock from NNW to W/NW. Expect swells to ease rapidly through the a’noon.

Into next week and the next cold outbreak and frontal progression is still on track for next week with another round of over-lapping S swell pulses on the menu. Expect fresh W’ly winds on Mon with a small late kick in S swell to 2ft at S facing beaches.

More small S swell is on the menu for Tues as fronts continue to whip the Island with mod/fresh W to WSW winds. Expect size in the 2ft+ range at S facing beaches.

A much bigger pulse arrives Wed from a deeper source fetch deep in the Tasman with sets to 4ft at S facing beaches under continuing cold W’ly winds. This pulses eases through the a’noon and into Thurs with leftover 2-3ft surf and continuing cold offshore winds.

By the end of next week we’ll see swells easing back to tiny with a possible small S swell on offer next Sun as a weaker front pushes through the lower Tasman.

Check back Mon for the latest and have a great weekend.
