Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 3rd July)

Best Days: Thursday and Friday mornings, desperate surfers northern corners Saturday

Recap

Our inconsistent new NE groundswell filled in yesterday with lully but great sets when they came, peaking through the day.

Today was a bit smaller and less consistent though the sets still there, you just had to be patient.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Jul 4 - 7)

The theme for the rest of the week will be inconsistency.

We've had a distant fetch of persistent E/NE trades aimed at us all this week and they're still being generated, though far in our swell window. The fetch will finally break down Friday but this means we'll see very inconsistent levels of swell continuing until the weekend.

Tomorrow through Saturday morning will be very inconsistent and most likely to 2-3ft on the north-east swell magnets, with the rare bigger one every 15 minutes or so.

Patience will be the key and conditions will be cleanest each morning with a SW breeze tomorrow, shifting S/SE into the afternoon, S/SW tending E/SE on Friday.

Saturday looks best in northern corners which will be smaller under a N/NW tending N'ly breeze.

Longer term the E/NE swell will fade off through Sunday from an inconsistent 2ft, small and 1-2ft early next week before dropping out all together for the rest of the week.

There's nothing significant on the cards to follow up, so make the most of the coming days, but remember to be patient.
