Tiny/flat surf continues- small waves mid next week with a chance of bigger surf this weekend
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon 4th August)
This weekend and next week (Aug4 -Aug 16)
Central QLD: Small waves through the week, possibly sizier this weekend
No change to the outlook- tiny flat surf into the and over the weekend and into next week.
A deep, slow moving low drifting towards the North Island sends some small E/SE groundswell to spots exposed to open ocean swell between Breaksea Spit and the Capricorn Channel.
Source of long range E/SE swell next week
Expect inconsistent 2ft sets Tues and Wed, easing Thurs.
We may see a strong SE surge into next weekend with potential for a stronger local swell but models are mixed with GFS suggesting another low forming off the NSW Coast and no surf for CQ.
We’ll see how it looks on Mon.
Until then, have a great weekend.
Mon Update: No change to the outlook with small E/SE groundswell filling in Tues and holding through Wed offering some clean 2-3ft sets at spots with open swell exposure.
Late this week we may see another strong high move into the Tasman with a SE surge building up the coast and building swells Fri into the weekend, possibily getting sizey if a low pressure trough forms off the CQ coast.
Still early days so check back Wed for the latest.
