Quiksilver Pro Day Four
The sandbank at Snapper is topping up with every tidal phase. Meanwhile, the numbers are being culled till all that remains are the usual suspects: Slater, Burrow, Wilson, Fanning.
The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast is heading towards its crescendo and Day Four had the action to match.

Getting Festive
The planets are aligning. The ducks are in a row. The show is ready to roll. Yep, the Noosa Festival of Surfing is set to start this weekend, and wouldn't you know it, Tropical Cyclone Sandra was named and framed this morning. The Category 1 'clone will slowly move toward the coast squeezing a high pressure ridge as she goes. And that, my friends, means waves, especially at Noosa where the orientation will provide protection from the wind. Let the logging begin.
These pre-festival shots were taken by Jack Dekort.

Quiksilver Pro Day One
The Quiksilver Pro ran through all twelve heats of Round One yesterday with lots of action but little drama. Gabriel tweaked an ankle and Adriano dinged his board, that's about the extent of the emotional toil. Dane's heat was much anticipated but after one or two good waves he disappeared and let Kelly rule the show.

Quiksilver Pro Expression Session
Despite the surf being a mediocre and messy two feet and the weather grey and wet the Carlton Dry Expression Session was held on Sunday providing the highlight of the day.

Roll Call
Those of you who've been paying attention should know the drill by now: First off the bat is Rodent Coote standing bolt upright and casual through a beast, then Jughead styling with his hands behind his back, followed by Shane Holmes holding a tight line. And all of 'em shot by Kerry Down showing a keen eye and incredible self control. How many barrel hounds would sit back and watch such a display without wanting to take part?
All photos by the master of self-discipline, Kerry Down.

Gold Coast photographer, Ryan Williams, is on location. He's just begun the season at Aura Surf Resort somewhere in Sumatra and sent us this batch of early season delights.

Besides The Point
So you've seen the photos from Kirra, Burleigh and maybe even Currumbin taken during the last swell. There's a lot more to the Gold Coast than just those points, however, with miles of beach stretching between the headlands.
Young Gold Coast photog, Sam Christopher, shot his local beachbreak during the recent swell while it did a very good - and very uncrowded - imitation of the better known pointbreaks.

John John Backside Air
The last sequence Grant Trouville sent us was an ultra-comitted backside bottom turn and barrel at Shark Island by 'Boogs' Vanderpolder. The latest sequence by Grant shows no less commitment but it's of a surfer of different nationality taken on a different coastline.
John John with a tweaked out backside punt in Hawaii.
