Swellnet Dispatch

It's just over 24 hours till the waiting period for the most anticipated comp of the year begins, The Billabong Pro Tahiti. And this year could be one of the best, according to Swellnet's forecast the surfers will get three significant swells in the waiting period, at least one of them on the upper threshold of paddling. Oh dear...

So to get in the mood Tim Bonython has cut this Teahupoo clip. He's called it 'Teahupoo, Chilled' but I can't tell if Tim is serious or if he's messing wiff our heads. The music is indeed 'chilled' but the waves are anything but. It's Chopes at it's brutal best.

While you're here click for Tim's Swellchaser Facebook page and give it a good like. You'll be glad you did.

An equal amount of beauty and terror. How much energy in one of those waves?

I watched a vid somewhere that said there's 500 tones of pressure per cubic metre.

What a wave so powerful. Your strength and timing has to be perfect here or your going to get hurt and or a few broken boards. Beauty can turn ugly if you don't know what your doing.
