...on the back of 'dustbowl' dune system, a zoned conservation area...

Decides it would make a great place for vineyard/winery development.

With a cricket oval!

Proceeds to build and water a cricket oval, in a conservation zone, on the edge of a dry dusty dune system, with precious local groundwater.

How is that even remotely considered ok?

At any level of government?

Anyway, a couple of years in, of earthmoving and watering his oval oasis, seems old mate cannot believe his luck, and is powering on with some pretty questionable development plans...

How does shit even get to this stage?

Totally inappropriate development.

Absolute failure at every level of governance.

Plenty of empty land down in Marion Bay. I remember when they released that more than a decade ago and there's still an abundance of cheap, empty blocks. Who will go to this winery? It will have visitors 10, 15 days a year? The place is dead for those sorts of developments.

Indeed plenty of empty land...

Zoned rural, not conservation area.

re. viability, it's clearly the old 'agricultural' hobby farm tax scam that people with money too much money to hide partake in.

tax write-off in the building phase maybe? like the '5 star hotel' at snelling beach KI, and so many others that get approval through tourism, but just end up as private get-aways for nobs and their richy mates?

Probably that, and the 'primary producer' tax scam that the doctor/lawyer/banker class of Perth have perfected so well in the Margaret River region.

Jealousy aside.

A dry and crispy dune system conservation area with a watered shiny green cricket oval...

Just astounding, that someone in some government office somewhere hasn't expressed an interest.

After N Rivers flood Taree council rep pushed me, after applying for extra, over the grand of Flood Relief everyone got, urged on by council.
After never ending convos it was decided I'm not a primary producer. Tx for figuring that out, after the facts
