The short version of a long story; Ive been shaping and riding centre sidecut surfboards for about 10 years. My thought process revolved around your leading foot being placed on the narrowest section of the board, allowing flow of water to be directed towards (and over) the tail & the ability to bite in and turn off the the back 1/8th of the board (rear tip section) instead of the regular middle "wide" section, like a normal outline.
Super fun boards and a great way to break up the monotony of a riding a regular shape! I was generally designing them based around the concepts of twin tips / Kite boards, but found that the shape and style surfed lent itself more towards Alaia's & Snow (Japanese powder) surfing. Especially when you stretched it out to a longer board. Work best with a deep single into a Very deep Double meshed in with a rolled Vee under the front foot.
The "Thrill Kill" model was born out of wanting to make an outline that incorporated a flexy type swallow tail with a bit of a salute to the old skool boards from back in the day.
Not for everyone, but i love em! Ive got a step up 7'2" x 16" x 2 5/8" (nose and tail 17" @ 38 Lts) that i want to test out down the coast soon. I'm by no means a talented surfer but i can try and get the wife to film if theres any alt design nerds that are interested in the way in tracks????
