Had the classic computer techno shit happen last week.
Myself being techno phobia, due to my age haha, I brought a MacBook Pro a year ago, for work and personal shit.
Starting to get myself around these contraptions a little now, thanks to some help i.e. the young fella at home.

Last week went down to the young fellas best mates 18th birthday in Nimbin, well should I say more, nah.

Anyways cut along story short, come home 2 days later hammered and fire up the lappy.(Swellnet)? ha.
Lo and behold woke the next morning to find my lap top still outside all night and covered in due and alcohol (I'm pretty sure it wasn't spew). Anyways started her up and fuck me the cursor went everywhere with out me controlling it and things were coming up left right and centre (links, pages whatever you want to call them). Pretty gutted. Closed it up.
Had to go offshore to work the next day with this fucked laptop not working.
I use it to do daily reports , time sheets, work procedures, watch movies etc etc.

All of a sudden it hit me, why are we so dammed reliant on these modern communication tools, when we were never before and got a way with it.
I was pretty bummed, I couldn't do my daily work reports, couldn't check Swellnet out, couldn't even curl up in my bunk and watch the last episodes of Breaking Bad , Spartacus or Weeds?
Had to go to the TV room with all the peanuts (Union Bass Straight Country Pumpkins), who don't even talk to you and watch Home and Away?. No-one wanted to play cards or anything.Fuck me. Boring.

2 days later my little girl came too life, Fuck I was stoked.

Technology?.......

if your lappie died for a short time....and it was due to the dew....prepare to buy a new one in a month or two.

I agree with you but unfortunately the fast paced life that technology allows us to live is here to stay. In fact the entire economy depends on it. The efficiency of a person can only be improved so much and, although our leisure time is still decreasing, the major of improvements in output are due to new and improved tech.

Unless you wanna live a self sufficient lifestyle... As soon as they invent something that allows it without sacrificing all the bells and whistles everyone will be doing it.

welly, quite often high tech elec stuffs works normally for a short time after being exposed to moisture, then the corrosion starts -micro corrosion ,next hitch offshore or sooner have one of the instrument techs dismantle the laptop and clean it thoroughly. normal use start up -cold to hot- shutdown.....cold seems to exacerbate the corrosion process. ?

Yeah udo its still cranking, thanks for being so thoughtful.
I went down the road to some computer geek tech fixer upper ra, who deals with Macs.
I told him my drunk story, which I cant really remember.
He said Macs are a lot more robust than alot of people think they are.
He reckoned it will be fine and it has been, which is a saviour, Ive become very attached to the thing now??....

I have spilt a bowl of soup, and a cup of tea straight on my MacBook. Took the battery out straight away, put it in a room with a dehumidifier overnight, and not a problem.

I think I could just about take the thing out to the lineup it is that indestructible.
