Hey guys

Heading off to the goldy for a couple of weeks this month
Just wondering whether it wouldd b cheaper to hire a board for the 2 weeks I'm there or buy a second hand board and then just send it home by courier or something.
Don't wanna take my board on the plane as we are flying tiger who charge $60 each way to take a board.
I'll b after a shortboard around 6'

Cheers

Don't know how much it costs to hire a board for two weeks, but seeing as they're usually hired by the hour I reckon it would be pretty expensive.

I'd buy a second handy myself.

Yer I reckon that might b the go
Also I forgot to ask what is the public transport like up there as I'll b staying near southport on the beach and would want to surf some better waves down south a bit. Is there like a bus of some sort that does runs all day back and forth?

Hey Duster
I had the family up there about 3 years ago and hired 4 boards (2 thrusters, a fish and a mal) and a couple of Boogers from Damo at Gold coast hire (Mermaid beach but will deliver to you). The price was pretty good for 10 days and he gave us a generous discount for the group too.

But when I went to Sydney recently I just bought 3 old hack thrusters off ebay for about $50 each that all fit into Jetstars limit, dropped the fins and strapped them together for the return and had no trouble, still throw them in the car occasionally as well now Im home.
So maybe try online to see whats around, then contact Damo at the link
Good luck and hope it pumps for ya

PS> There are buses all along the strip - as well as the train, but its back inland a bit and usually requires a long walk.

don't forget that you are liable for damage to any board you hire. Could be expensive if you break one ! You could always buy second hand up there, surf it for 2 weeks then try to sell it in a shop that does consignment boards.
