Tracks magazine in The Age "Olive Bowers hits out at surfer sexism"
This should bump it into homepage visibility for you. The article is ironic (or coincidental) given Tracks' recent "we're not racist" reply to the ASL brouhaha.
I haven't bought Tracks (or any other mag for that matter) for a number of years now, but for the 20odd years prior that, I did and this discussion and accusations are nothing new. Jeez it just doesn't stop. If you don't like the fact of what they are or what you think they might protray, don't buy it. There are plenty of mags dedicated to chicks for this very reason. FFS leave it alone.
This incident even scored an apperarance in Media Watch last night!
I posted a couple of months ago something the SMH or similar ran about the hotties in the Australian Open of Tennis. Where was the outrage?
Or this one doing the rounds in the last couple of days-

Paulina Gretzky, daughter of ice-hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. I wonder if it would make a difference if she was actually a golfer? I remember years ago there didn't seem to be the same 'outrage' when Aussie Jan Stephenson didn't mind flaunting it for the mags.
I'm so tired of the double standards where women are always the victims and every male is made to feel like a predator. However, this whole beauty industry is perpetuated by women. Maybe Olive should have a whinge to Dolly instead of Tracks. That's where it all starts.
What a waste of 15 minutes......
Precisely.
nice she has an Asian s/bd....!
Tracks magazine are getting dragged across the coals in The Age newspaper about sexism in surfing. It's not new but it's the first time I've seen the mainstream media latch onto it. Here's the story
