Advise needed- am i being ripped off? / Begineer Shaper

Hi,

I am looking to buy some tools for my first shaping project- I am planning to follow the instructions on greenlight surf supply website to construct a 7ft board EPS

What tools are best in the shaping phase a planer or numerous sanding grits/rasps (If using sandpaper is it better to use a power sander and attach cloth backed sheets/ or do this manually)?

Hey RussH, are you based in the US, since you're looking at a US based supplier?

If so, have you looked on Swaylocks? Do a search on there, you'll find a LOT of good beginner info. Just watch out for the grumpy old stalwarts.

If you're here in Oz, give the crew at Shapers a call. I found them to be REALLY helpful and understanding when I first started a few years back. https://shapers.com.au/

And, just FWIW, IMHO, no you don't NEED all the tools you've listed and can probably get away with a more condensed materials list too.

Hi wingnut actually UK based- the only good place I have found for blanks here is Seabase.

I have worked in a few boards now & glad I didn’t get half of this gear! Nearly went for a modified wen planer ££ not worth it
