Teaching young kids - Victoria

Hey dyl, can’t beat Pt Leo if you tend to head down this way.

Depends which part of the stretch you go. The sailing club side is well protected, probably a good equivalent.

Cosy Corner Beach, just off The Esplanade, inside Pt. Danger, Torquay, protected and gentle little rollers make their way to an easy beach with no rips.
Post surf, you and the kids are close to a veritable choice of eateries, i.e ice cream etc.
Make their day. AW

Ocean Grove beach [up to 'RAAFS' Barwon Heads] being reasonably sheltered, has many low energy days that 'generally' keeps the beach in a constructive pattern with a wide sandy beach, flat sandy bottom with little variance in the sand floor whilst playing in the waves. Kids love learning at this beach as little variation under foot while wading out with boards. Not generally ideal for quality peelers, but perfect for beginners......SLSC Patrolled peak times & surf club & change rooms right at front carpark.

+1 On Cosy Corner. Taught my niece to surf there. Epic spot for the family.
Hi everyone,
I have some upcoming time off work one day a week, and I plan on using this time to take my kids (5 year old, 2.5 year old) to the beach to introduce them to the surf and some tandem foamie riding. I am located in Melbourne but able to travel to either coast. I am keen for any advice for spots that might have suitable micro-waves for this purpose. I am familiar with the prevailing conditions and what works in what conditions, but this is for more adult waves. I was thinking Fishos, Western Port, Ocean Grove, and Roadknight as potential starting points. Cheers!
