Hi everyone,

I have some upcoming time off work one day a week, and I plan on using this time to take my kids (5 year old, 2.5 year old) to the beach to introduce them to the surf and some tandem foamie riding. I am located in Melbourne but able to travel to either coast. I am keen for any advice for spots that might have suitable micro-waves for this purpose. I am familiar with the prevailing conditions and what works in what conditions, but this is for more adult waves. I was thinking Fishos, Western Port, Ocean Grove, and Roadknight as potential starting points. Cheers!

Hey dyl, can’t beat Pt Leo if you tend to head down this way.

Depends which part of the stretch you go. The sailing club side is well protected, probably a good equivalent.

Cosy Corner Beach, just off The Esplanade, inside Pt. Danger, Torquay, protected and gentle little rollers make their way to an easy beach with no rips.
Post surf, you and the kids are close to a veritable choice of eateries, i.e ice cream etc.
Make their day. AW
