Recently listened to an interesting podcast where this guy was interviewed and he's got some good insights as to why real estate prices are so high. Hope his message gets out there and seeing as cost of living and high cost of housing was one of the complaints for the March for Australia crew it'd be great to see them get behind this geezer. I still reckon it's a rigged game when the mob who are setting the value of our real estate and so are determining how much needs to be borrowed to buy it are also the ones whose financial returns are directly related to the size of that mortgage
Net immigration numbers are down for sure, according to the ABS from 536,000 in 2022-23 to 446,000 in 2023-24.
So it’s dropped from the size of a city quite a bit bigger than Canberra to the size of a city almost as big as Canberra.

@Island Bay we keep paying but we get nothing for free. What is excatly free? We still have to pay for every single thing from birth certificates to uni degrees. So it's worse than what you're saying. Governments are drowning in money while offering little in return. European states are also high taxing but you truly don't pay anything for many things. We pay taxes + market rates for most things. Some costs like passports and drivers licences are truly obscene.

I agree with you. Govts are generally ridiculously profligate with other people's money. Damn them.
At least you have good, free healthcare, roading, infrastructure etc. Except for the Byron Shire potholes.

Just on the topic of high-speed trains, construction of the Chengdu-Huanglongjiuzhai line was completed last August, so you can get from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou in about three hours now. Fantastic scenery, the Min Mountains, a real trip. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in taking a ride on one of China's high-speed trains.

Senior officers have been left shaking their heads at the depravity at the recent function for cops at a metropolitan station.Internal affairs investigators are probing two separate scandals at a city bar where the officers had gathered.
The first, and most concerning incident, involved two randy junior male officers who slunk off from the party and ended up in a drunken tryst. One of the men performed oral sex on the other. During that act he digitally penetrated the colleague he was pleasuring.
That uninvited move shocked the recipient. It is not known whether he continued to enjoy the other service his work mate was offering but the aggrieved cop later went home and told his wife about the incident.
The pair discussed the matter and decided that while the oral sex was consensual, the penetration was not. They both presented at a police station to lodge a complaint, insisting it be treated as a criminal matter.
