Books About Surfing

…the truest advice calhoun the carrot cake should take haha
The ghost of Blowin!

Seems you have a lot of fans in the comments on beachgrit .
Haha shit. We went easy on him here.
Don’t think Australia is really his audience , might have better luck in Europe . @seeds , any idea where carrot cake rock is ?
No idea but Barreled is obviously an Aussie.
That is still the world’s worst word except for here.
Well he actually admitted to being Blowin with a link to an article he wrote on this sight a while back.

Haha
& this …
“Don't know much about him, but I like to think of him as the Toledo of commenting - a massive amount of haters, and probably couldn’t pack a tube if his life depended on it. Ironic considering he’s spent half his life chasing the world’s best waves, named cloud 9, and is somehow getting the attention to etch himself into surf history (mostly thanks to the haters)”
…reckon ppl know the calhounian better than he does ;)

^^^ and in that comment he spelt ass correctly ;)

hear hear. If espousing no other moral lines-in-the-sand, SN's commenters proudly hold firm on the UK/Aus/NZ spelling and pronunciation of 'arse'.. sadly we've all but lost Canada to the inevitable southern influence, but we stand proud. We stand tall. The USA can shove its ass up its arse.
(how's Gerda Nicolson, who played Robyn in Neighbours, fagging on with her cuppa?)

They spelt cabana wrong in cabana hotel if you get my drift

Bargearse is a true Ozzie legend.

I wonder how the Late Show got permission to parody Bluey for the Bargearse character.

Picking up momentum - back to Number #1 on Amazon in Surfing, New Releases.
That feature on BG must have greased the rails, so to speak -
Thanks for all your pre-orders!

So which country is ordering the most ?

I reckon the Working Dog boys called the shots in the industry for quite a while, the new wave of pro comedy production.. remember when they had to fight to have Harry Shearer on Frontline.. indignant Tommy G and Santo saying:
"we were instrumental in making the rules for pushing Australian actors and Australian content! Then we had to fight to use the guy who plays Burns and Skinner on the Simpsons who happened to be in town for crying out loud. We were told an Aussie had to play the role we had quickly written for him.." (they won, but)

Parodies and satire don't usually break copyright laws if they meet some pretty standard criteria.
And thank fark for that.
Bargearse is Legend.

Morning glass by Mike Doyle is a great book!

Rocketing to the top of the list - someone is buying The Book
Unfortunately, I do not have access to any Amazon analytics, so I don't know which country, gender, age group, etc

. . . . . and a calendar -
I thought y'all would have noticed, but the random "calendar" is from WA photographer Russell Ord, a very good water shooter who has been producing quality images for many years.
Perhaps attention to detail is not one of the valued qualities of this constituency?

"Perhaps attention to detail is not one of the valued qualities of this constituency?"
Don't think this sort of sales pitch is going to work. Most people trying to sell things try to encourage customers, not abuse them.
Mind you I do get a sense of Basil.

One little detail while we're on detail JC...how many calendars sell in August? At a guess, >90% of global calendar sales occur in December, maybe November and early Jan for the bargain hunters.

25/08 sent PDF & Cover - asked for phone number(received) 26/08/25 copy arranged with Customer service “ is a magnificent work from Callahan, maybe the most ambitious map for a keen surfer to read and explore the world of surfing”
Going to be some great reviews!
Place your pre-oder now, so you don't miss out!

We do have a surf trip to The Philippines for September, if interested - three waves, two of which have likely never been surfed. Different wind directions, SW, W and NE so we are covered as the typhoon moves slowly through the Philippine Sea swell window.
Same price, USD $3k, USD $1500 deposit gets you an invitation to the private Facebook group with the full down-low of text and images.

I'll consider it if you name the 'new' breaks Auro and Malagos.
(and you cater with San Miguel and Jollibee chicken.. )
mmmm.... Jo-li-beeee.... garghrghalghrlagh...

I definitely don’t have a case of FOMO when it comes to this book . The reviews on beachgrit were amusing . Will you be foiling in the Pines ? There’s a number 1 book on how to do it .

Yes, considering the book has not been published yet, it is quite amazing so many people on Beach Grit are apparently clairvoyant and can read every word of a book that has not been released yet - astonishing abilities.
These people are very talented.

“ We do have a surf trip to The Philippines”
How often are these WE trips turning into YOU hanging in Singapore instead these days?
If your sales are going good, good on you!
If it’s a hit maybe ME will become WE again.

I have already named many surfing locations in The Philippines, like Cloud 9, Philippine Dream, Tuesday Rcok and Jurassic Point, it is likely this trip will produce a few more -
Plenty of Jollibee outlets, decent value for money in The Philippines.
I can live without the sugar in the spaghetti sauce, but the fried chicken is good -
The Philippines project is listed on Waverii -
Let me know if interested -

google my suggested names, you'll get it..
(yeh, sugar definitely the US gift that keeps giving there).
'Tuesday R-cok' is a genius name for a break, I don't know that one.

Go on the the project at USD $3000 per pax and you can name them yourself -
MASSIVE SWINGING AUSSIE COCK, if you think that would be appropriate; or MSAC for short.
Many people call it "Rock Island" but I named it "Tuesday Rock" - that is the proper name, like Martin naming "Steel Vagina" on Panaitan, which later arrivals (Seppos, of course) re-named "Apocalypse" -
Hey gang, I've recently gotten into surfing and I am looking to find a good book or two that will introduce me to this world a little better.
It doesn't really matter what genre it is, I'm just keen for any insight into the beautiful and often mystical world of surfing.
Cheers!
