Picking up a 6’9” moonraker end of November . So looking forward to it but I will be hesitant to take it out when crowded. Wanted to go all out with the carbon flex tail but couldn’t bring myself to spend that much. Happy enough with the v2 flex for now. Really wanted an outer island while Mitchell is still shaping . If anyone is selling a carbon flex tail , please let me know .
@quadzilla , I know you have various outer island boards , is your blade runner a carbon flex ? I’ve read where ya reckon the V2 flex are really fast but it’s like the carbon flex tail turbo charges them . Not sure if you’re aware of current prices but it was a huge jump in price . Mitchell explained to me in full what’s involved with making them and the hours it takes, plus his health has suffered as a result of 50+ years in the industry so I fully understand why he’s limiting the amount of that type of board per year. My question to you , is there that big a difference between V2 flex with or without the carbon tail ? The guy I spoke to on NL that had a moonraker with the carbon flex tail was a bit older than me and said he was making sections on waves he wouldn’t normally make , this got me interested and the board was just such a high quality piece of art . Making sections on waves that need a bit more burst of speed is very appealing as I age .

The carbon Flextails are FORMULA ONE surfboards ...V2 are only like a road going Ferrari....Yes, you will make sections that you have never made before...
As for time in the industry, dealing with being a smoker and drinker is probably more detrimental to his health than the fumes and dust...Although in the early days, we all didnt take many precautions( I only made my own boards)...NoMasks/respirators at the start.
I dont have a Bladerunner , Smart/CoralReefers/SuperMals/Phaza and Wolf(not on his website anymore).
The full monty of FLEX...V2 with carbon tail COSTALOTTA but its "the ultimate in flex" as he remarked to me once.I cant comment on that as all my carbon tails(2 owned,4 sold) are centre stringers.I own 4 of the V2s right now(only sold 1) and they go fast.The carbon tails go FASTER.
The carbon tails reflex back and give a TURBO burst of speed, its an amazing sensation.

Hi Supa, I had a lot of fun on a 6'6 V2 Moonraker at Impossibles and Bingin last month. Got a screamer (in my book) at Impossibles, and the speed through the barrel was unreal. Got a comment on the way back out how the board seemed to suit the wave so well. I could only agree.
I also brought a 7'4 Zen Blade (flex tail). At the risk of sounding a bit grandiloquent, I felt like every surf on it (in Bali) was a mystical experience. As Mitchell says: "Liquid lightning, turns like the mark of Zorro".

More if you buy used, but they dont match the BRUTAL ACCELERATION that the flexeys have.
He calls Zen Blade boards that encompass his experience with flex, V2, carbon flextail, with EVA foam. I got it on Gumtree last year - thanks udo. I was waiting for some proper waves to get it out. It's sick. I won't forget a sunset session on it at good size Impossibles,..

That zen blade sounds awesome, thanks for sharing . I’m hoping a second hand v2 flex with carbon tail comes up before I hit Australia in November . Don’t really mind what model . Something up to 7’6 would be nice . I’m 5’10 , 90 kg
