UKRAINE the latest.

Plenty of articles today claiming Republican pollies realising Putin thinks Trump is a fool that he’s been playing.
Putin has escalated his attacks on Ukraine.
Trump states he doesn’t know what is wrong with Putin and he’s not happy with Putin’s actions.
Surely Trump realises Putin never had respect for him which privately would sting that huge ego.

Trump's making Neville Chamberlain look like a grand statesman.
It's like reality TV vs geopolitical grand strategy.
Sooner Trump wakes up from this the better.

I’m not sure on Chamberlain’s motivation to be a weak pissant was but Trump and his ego doesn’t have the capacity to realise what anyone outside the MAGA fishbowl really thinks of him.

Trump sure looks silly considering his claims about stopping the war on day one and his treatment of Zelensky when Zelensky told him you can’t trust Putin.

Putin seems to have lost his mind.
If anything was salvageable a few years ago by trump it seems gone now.
Even Donny can’t rein him in….their mateship we were all counting on ..gone.
Putin sees the future of more us / them democrat Cold War madness on the horizon so won’t abort his grand plan….
……whatever that is.
So is this a silly old man’s game of pride vs pride..???…probably…..thats how civilisations crash usually.
Or is this a diversion for something bigger happening behind the scenes…
Are we watching Putins left hand while the right does the real thing he’s got up his sleeve like some magician…
Because this war makes no sense at all…..they were all Russians 5 minutes ago.
Enter all of Europe now with nice new euro and U.S. guns etc.
And Albo generously signing us all up to a euro defence pact…..
Long way from straya……but not so much when he signs us into the new world order.
A communal society.
That has learnt nothing from the past.
Aussies are good fighters…..they will need to be….
Looking forward to Albos speech about how important it is to enter other peoples wars…..
Getting involved in global madness is the right thing to do……..
Because it makes me feel important……and I’ve always wanted to be important…...signed Albo.

I think it's bigger than pride for putin optimist
and I don't think he's lost his mind
bigger concepts in play, and he was never gonna back down, which is why 'the west' should've been a bit smarter, a bit more self reflective...
with a bit less hubris a lot less hubris
you're right, we're busy watching his left hand, whilst he's got his right hand...
man...
he's also got virulent determination, and self belief, in ways of doing stuff, the battle ideas
and thinks the west is a bit... well... weak as piss...
which is kinda true

bigger concepts, partners, and ways of doing stuff, ruling...
like shamelessly capitalising on the naivete of island life
taking over from within
'capturing elites'
(oz uni's any one?)
80% capture of tonga's mercantile capacity, bringing in a work force to build everything!
if nothing else they're fostering some serious 'learned helplessness'
dependence...
does mr. tonga really believe this shit he's sprouting?
naivete indeed...
meanwhile, oz is asleep at the wheel
as the defence academic chick I quoted pre election said...
whilst jim chalmers hints at some serious global threats... labor are not serious...

Well said.
And Opti’s solution become more weak as piss by not backing allies.
Happy for our biggest allie to keep bombarding the shit out of Gaza though. What a Christian.
And you doofus there was never any admiration or friendship between Trump and Putin. It was all in Trump’s egotistical head. Did you ever hear Putin stating anything like that.

Might not like what he says, but he has been pretty accurate to date.
Alastair Crooke.

ol' alistair crooke be right
deeper forces at play, too deep for the 'transactional peace makers' to overcome, to understand, or even appreciate...
biden had a miserable policy of bleeding em dry, with ukranian blood...
you really think xi (and others) are going to let this end like you envision quadman?
it's all in now, a fight to the bitter end, whatever that may be...
a battle of ideas, of dominance, for supremacy
crooke is right, trump missed the boat, the euros missed the boat...
biden avoided the boat
for miserable domestic political purposes...
and probably more than a touch of influence, about an incriminating crackheads laptop
putin's being playing the west for decades, probably his whole life... the 'reformer' the 'progressive' putin, ....is no such thing...
or maybe he just changed his mind

Yep, that article seems pretty accurate and backs up Crooke, Wilkenson et al have been saying for months/ years.
Frightening now that Germany have now stopped putting limits on the range of missiles. Russia has basically said that if German missiles are used operated with the help of the German military, then that open up the potential for Russian missiles to be aimed at Germany. Not a real great scenario, WW3?
Russia do not want a cease fire as they see that as just giving Ukraine with aid of West time to re-arm and have stated they will not stop until their goals are reached. They want a bigger more encompassing plan for the future that guarantees their security, ie no NATO bases in Ukraine and neutrality.
Not arguing this is right or wrong, just what has been presented by Crooke, Sergey Lavrov etc and is the realpolitik of the situation. And this is exactly how it is playing out, Trump can rave all he likes, but he has an empty hand while Putin holds the Ace's.
The longer it continues the more people die, Europe with or without the US will eventually lose as Russia are not going anywhere, unless it turns nuclear, then bye bye Europe if not the world.
Russia will grind on as long as required.

"Russia has basically said that if German missiles are used operated with the help of the German military, then that open up the potential for Russian missiles to be aimed at Germany. Not a real great scenario, WW3?"
I wish I still had the video, that showed US UK troops essentially doing exactly this
everyone knows what's happening, both sides are doing shit with the aid of 'allies' already, just a matter of time before the reality seeps from under the cloak
seems germany is going public anyway... I hope they've got their little bomb factories on full production, because there's clearly no turning back from either side at this point...
the nato push move was / is super dumb
a suicide move
reckless hubris

Z germanz are juzt bearing giftz… tiz in zeir nature… zis tradition now iz juzt a technologically enhanced acceleration of …pwogwessive de ezcalation ;)
- Kris Kringle is a gift-giving tradition, particularly popular in Australia and other parts of the world, which is essentially a Secret Santa exchange. It involves participants anonymously drawing names and then exchanging gifts within a pre-determined budget. The term "Kris Kringle" itself is derived from the German "Christkindl," meaning "Christ child," which is the traditional gift-bringer in some European regions.

US finally realises that the communists have been scamming them royally through US universities, and actually acts on it:
https://www.theepochtimes.com/china/us-will-start-revoking-visas-of-chin...
'“The U.S. will begin revoking visas of Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields,” Rubio wrote on X.
The State Department confirmed the action in a short press release, stating that it will work with the Department of Homeland Security to “aggressively revoke” the visas. It will also revise the visa criteria and “enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications” from China and Hong Kong.'
'“China is the world’s principal infringer of intellectual property. The annual cost to the U.S. economy of counterfeit goods, pirated software, and theft of trade secrets is between $225 billion and $600 billion,” the FBI states.
Rubio’s announcement comes two months after House Republicans raised the issue of Chinese student visas on March 14.
Introduced, in part, by Rep. Riley Moore (R-W. Va.), the “Stop Chinese Communist Prying by Vindicating Intellectual Safeguards in Academia Act of 2025,” or “Stop CCP VISAs Act of 2025,” would ban Chinese citizens from obtaining student visas, citing CCP-related national security concerns.
“Every year we allow nearly 300,000 Chinese nationals to come to the U.S. on student visas. We’ve literally invited the CCP to spy on our military, steal our intellectual property, and threaten national security,” Moore said in a statement to The Epoch Times.'
What is coming is the Cold War, again. Two separate economic systems, two educational systems, military rivalry. Trump has tried the olive branch while kicking allies in the teeth, and the response has been exactly as you'd imagine a Soviet bloc would respond.

@VJ , no doubt there is some truth in what they say but given it’s the epoch times and their affiliation with Falun Gong , it’s always going to be a extremely bias article . Does China steal all the intellectual property ? Or does greed from individuals selling out for short term gain play a role ?

Russia is far more brittle than people realise. Threatening to nuke your neighbours if they don’t give you what you want, but can’t actually get under your own steam, is a sign of weakness not strength.
There is a reason for their colonialist desire to control (Slavic / Orthodox) Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and other neighbours. Because without them, Russia’s not viable as a major world player the way that the USSR was and is on a timeline to internal conflict and eventual dissolution as a Federation.
Just like the Spanish, Dutch, French and British Empires. The only difference is that the Russian empire (“Federation”) is (largely) contiguous to Russia’s borders. But no less “Imperial” or “Colonial” in design or reality.
So, the question is, what to do about that?
This conflict is over 1000 days and will continue for a good while yet.
Theres lots of BS floating around online( some paid for by the Ruski propagandists) so here's an opportunity to comment on whats going on if ya know?
Juzzie is a good source of info and he speaks "our" language.
