Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 25th May)

Best Days: Tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday morning

Recap

Great waves in protected spots all weekend with a building E'ly swell to 4-5ft through Saturday from a strong Tasman Low to our north-east, easing back to 3-4ft on Sunday and then back to a cleaner 2-3ft today.

A new swell should have kicked through this afternoon and we'll see this persist over the coming days.

This weekend and next week (May 23 - 29)

The strong and intense Tasman Low linked to the weekend's swell has broadened though isn't as consolidated as forecast last Friday.

We'll see some new E/SE swell this afternoon and tomorrow from a broad but not overly strong or well aimed fetch of SE winds through our swell window.

We should see waves to 3-4ft on the open beaches tomorrow, easing back later in the day and down from 2-3ft on Wednesday.

A small fetch of E'ly winds exiting Cook Strait should keep open beaches around 1-2ft into Thursday, tiny come Friday.

Local winds look favourable with an offshore W'ly tending N breeze tomorrow, N/NW all day Wednesday and NW all day Thursday.

Looking into the weekend and a small N'ly windswell may be seen Sunday morning but only to 1-2ft or so, though developments beyond this are unclear/ Check back Wednesday for more detail.
