Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 1st January)

Best Days: Tuesday morning, Wednesday mid-late morning, early Thursday

Recap

A tiny to flat start to Saturday ahead of a good pulse of W/SW swell later in the day, best yesterday morning with clean leftover 2ft surf.

This morning we're back to a tiny 1-1.5ft with a reinforcing W/SW swell and less than ideal conditions.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Jan 2 - 7)

The front generating today's reinforcing W/SW swell has produced a better aligned fetch of W/SW winds in our south-western swell window, and we should see the swell off this peaking tomorrow morning to 2ft.

Conditions should be clean all day as the swell eases with a NW tending W/NW breeze.

One final pulse of W/SW swell is expected on Wednesday, generated by a relatively weak but favourably tracking polar front towards us over the coming days.

We should see the swell fill in Wednesday and peak through the afternoon to 2ft across Clifton though with W/NW tending W/SW winds. Thursday morning will be super clean but fading from 1-2ft max.

Unfortunately for the rest of the period there's nothing significant on the cards with the Southern Ocean falling quiet. More on this Wednesday.
