South Australian Forecast (issued Monday 1st September)

Best Days: Wednesday, Thursday morning for small waves, Saturday morning for peaky waves, Sunday

Recap

The South Coast offered the best waves of the weekend, Saturday being the biggest and best at exposed spots before the swell became smaller into Sunday.

Today small waves have continued down South with an early W'ly breeze but this has since gone onshore, writing off the surf for the rest of the day. The Mid Coast is tiny and bumpy and not worth a look.

This week (Sep 1– 5)

Tomorrow will be a write off with a weak building swell and fresh but easing onshore S/SW tending S'ly winds on the South Coast.

A small S/SW swell should easing through Wednesday as winds swing back offshore from the N/NE, with inconsistent and easing 2-3ft sets at Waits and Parsons, with easing 2ft waves at Middleton. Winds should remain favourable all day, but the morning will be biggest.

Thursday morning will start out very small and clean under a N/NE breeze, but a new long-range and small SW groundswell is due into the afternoon but winds will swing E'ly, limiting options. Middleton should pulse back to 2ft, with 3ft sets at Waits and Parsons before easing from a similar size Friday. Unfortunately winds look to continue from the E/SE Friday and with strength as a cut-off low moves in from the west and across us, creating poor conditions.

This weekend onwards (Sep 6 onwards)

The weekend will start off less than ideal with a small swell and peaky conditions under an E/NE breeze, but a new long-range SW groundswell should fill in through the afternoon and hold into Sunday morning as winds swing more favourably offshore from the N/NE. Middleton should be an inconsistent 2ft on the sets, with 3ft bombs at Waits, while the Mid will remain tiny.

Longer term we may see a new node of the Long Wave Trough moving in from the west early next week bringing with it some decent W/SW groundswell for mid-late that week, but we'll keep an eye on this and provide another update Wednesday.
