Recap

Good waves into yesterday morning with clean conditions and plenty of energy persisting from the E/SE, building from the S'th into the afternoon as a strengthening cold front pushed up the coast.

This swell is still in the water today and conditions are best in southern corners .

This weekend and next week (Dec 10 - 16)

The weekend is looking great for surf as we see the swell direction swing more east of south, allowing a greater spread of size across our regions.

Currently a broad, strong Tasman Low has formed to our east, directing strong S'ly winds up along the coast.

Along the southern flank of the low, a fetch of strong S/SE winds are being generated through our south-eastern swell window and this will remain the case until this evening before the low weaks tomorrow,

As a result we should see some fun mid-period SE swell energy in the water through tomorrow to 3-4ft all day, easing slowly from 3ft on the sets Sunday morning and then 1-2ft max Monday morning.

Winds will be W/SW-SW tomorrow morning and then E/NE into the afternoon, with NW tending stronger N/NE winds on Sunday.

A very small NE windswell to 1-2ft may be seen on dark Sunday, fading Monday but it's not worth worrying too much about.

The rest of next week looks void of any major surf until Thursday, when another mid-latitude low is expected to form off our south-east corner, bringing some persistent, windy, moderate-large sized S'ly swell. We'll have a closer look at this on Monday though. Have a great weekend!
