Last week we ran a Wave of the Day photo, taken by Jeff Schmucker, of a fella copping a fifteen foot lip on the head. Remember it?

Anyway, I ran the shot and wrote the words giving the perception that the fella got pumped. And why wouldn't I think that, wearing a lip of that size on the scone?

Well yesterday Jeff told me that the surfer, Sam Boon from Tasmania, actually made the wave. "Bullshit", I said. "Photos or it didn't happen". A man of his word, Jeff just sent me the whole sequence. So here it is, Sam Boon shrugging off the lip of an open ocean monster.
