Yesterday a surfer was attacked by a shark while surfing Back Beach at Streaky Bay on South Australia's West Coast. Although there's been a spate of fatal attacks in Western Australia it's South Australia that is more known for them.

Jeff Schmucker was shooting these photos of his son, Josiah, and other surfers when the attack occurred although he didn't see it. "I spoke to one of the guys who was in the water with him and he's a reliable source, he's been a long time fisherman on the West Coast" Jeff said to local ABC news.

"He said it was a large Great White and he said the shark just attacked out of the blue and just launched into the guy, into his side."

They may be hardy folk out west but everyone cleared the water following the attack. Wouldn't of mattered how good the waves were.
