Eye on the Apple Isle

Tags: Better than any tourist brochure, these photos of Tassie will leave all surfers salivating. That leaves, oh...about 1500 k's of jagged coast to find these waves.
Good luck...

Tags: A funny thing happened on the way to the chemist...
After putting up his East Coast notes last Friday Swellnet forecaster, Craig Brokensha, immediately developed a cough.

Tags: There are other factors, such as indirect light and lighting ratio, but perhaps it's time for a visual example?
These shots are from the large south swell that hit the East Coast about a month ago.

Jolt From The Vault
Robert Dent
Friday, 29 October 2010
Tags: Taken way back in June and overlooked for no other reason than I've got terrible organisational skills. Certainly it had nothing to do with the quality of the photos or the surfing. Check 'em out, Glen Hall getting seriously barrelled on a NSW Central Coast beachy.
Indo Odyssey: Stage Seven, West Java
Jim Banks

Tags: Jeez, it makes you question the path you've chosen doesn't it?
Makes you question the path that leads you to the office day in, day out, hopping on public transport, reading the gossip in MX and the regurgitated news in the Terrorgraph.

Tags: Jim Banks' Indo Odyssey continues...
These photos are from the Java leg - Grajagan to West Java - where the crew scored plenty of swell.
Crystal Cylinders
Dasha
Saturday, 23 October 2010
Tags: There ain't no palm trees on the Mornington Peninsula, and what a shame that is.
Because if local photographer, Dasha, could've framed these photos with palms they would've been straight from the Crystal Cylinders style manual - airbrushed waves and swaying palms in an idyllic tropical scene.
As it is we've got low shrubs and cool water, with waves so perfect they appear to have been made by an artists hand.//STUART NETTLE

Left and Righteous
Steen Barnes
Wednesday, 20 October 2010
Tags: Their discipline and willpower is positively saintly and lies beyond the understanding of my limited imagination. Yet if it wasn't for the inexplicable proclivities of this weird and wonderful mob we wouldn't have this eye candy to drool over.
Today it's Saint Steen Barnes, who denied himself a morning full of shacks to bring you a screen full of joy, and for that we are all thankful.
Amen.//STUART NETTLE

Crisp wind from the west...check
On a sunny weekend with people walking poodles along the shoreline,
And lycra-clad power walkers patrolling the back blocks...check and check
There's some great waves out there, no doubt about that, but you'll have to battle a platoon of eager warriors for a slice of Battlefield Sydney.

Tags: Open to a fair slather of Southern Ocean energy, it's as consistent as anywhere else in the country - but that's where the generic compliments end.

Nothing Like A Road Trip
Sam Norwood
Wednesday, 13 October 2010
Tags: There's nothing quite like a road trip - even when the surf's terrible, there's still something about being out of range for a few days.
