"The best day in years." "As good as Pipe gets." The post-heat interviews were full of complimentary raves about the impeccable conditions at Pipe on Day 3 of the Volcom Pipe Pro. Even Kelly Slater was exuberant following his heat. "“This is easily the best Pipe of the year, right now, the last couple hours, it’s incredible,” said Slater. “There’s so many waves it’s hard to keep the adrenaline down and keep yourself calm."

Swimming in the channel was Chris White whose wife and child were rescued by Slater just two days previous when a wave surged across the Kam Highway. Multiple XXL swells, dramatic rescues, impeccable Pipe: It's been one hell of a season.
