A Passing Blow
In one dramatic week of waves the World Cup ran in macking Sunset, Eddie went and calls went out about the biggest swell since '69 (you remember that one, right?)
And with all that energy bouncing around the North Pacific it was inevitable that some of it would make its way over to the Western Pacific. The dark coloured blob on the wave model only struck a passing blow to Micronesia so it was never a question of going or not, and there were no comparisons to big swells of yore.
The swell came in at a bit over head high but then, that's all you need for stand-up pits. Gold Coast surfer Nathan McLean was johnny-on the-spot to claim his share of them, and World Surfari's David Scard also hooked into a few tax-refundable barrels, which are the best type I'm led to believe.
