The opening day of the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro saw several of surfing's elite put on a show in playful one-to-three foot waves at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, Calif. The first 16 heats of Round 1 were completed today and the contest will continue through Saturday, May 7 before awarding $250,000 in cash and a custom $30,000 14-karate gold railroad spike.
