What would Cam Richards do?

That was the question I kept asking myself as Dane Reynolds limped to 6.93 in his Round One heat at the Hurley Pro this morning. In his Round Two heat - versus Kelly Slater no less - Dane cracked double digits, scoring a round 10 points.

Cam Richards is the little-known surfer who almost beat Dane for the Hurley wildcard, which was decided by online voting. So after all the social media hoopla - Vote 1 Dane! - the masses are let down again. Perhaps this is how Joe Non-Surfer feels when he watches pro surfing? Maybe Dane is wiseing us up to the limitations of our li'l sport?

In that case, good on Dane. Probably the only accolades he's gonna get all day...
