There are 22 reef passes on the island of Pohnpei yet only one of them - P-Pass - is well-known in the surfing world. Despite the distracting perfection of Palikir Pass photos of other waves occasionally make the surf media. Anyone remember Andrew Shield's famous shot of Main Pass?

During a recent Western Pacific swell Taj Burrow, Wade Goodall and Jay Davies flew into town. Of course they headed straight to P-Pass. This left the guests of Pohnpei Surf Club with a decision: compete with the pros or head up the reef to become the kings of their own pass. They chose the latter and it paid dividends.
