Indonesia News/Updates
Sorry to hear Inzider, sounds similar to what WA/Qld (lesser extent) are right now. Been shut up shop inside their own bubble in Aus but when everything starts opening they'll be left behind.
South Australia and Tasmania have pretty much the same covid policies as Qld and WA but seem to get zero flack about it. They have Liberal Party premiers, of course.
Queensland gets flack because the Tweed border situation has been a debacle. The fact that NSW is equally to blame gets less attention....Liberal Premier. WA gets flack because, whatever the policy, anyone appearing as smug as McGowan will always get flack.

Fark these images are sad from the Bali many of us know and love.
And I very rarely ventured anywhere near Kuta....
Finally feel as I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Got my second dose yesterday no side effects whatsoever.
And just locked in flights for 6 week Indo winter 2022, some decent deals until Saturday with Jetstar.
Would go earlier like right now if could seeing quarantine in Aus is being scrapped, but have work commitments and building early next year too, so surfing with the hordes it will be.
Some footage of the shipwreck at lances right https://fb.watch/9ECnI7kGGa/
Wow, thanks Supa!
Good find Supa - This is bit clearer footage
Indonesia to extend mandatory quarantine for international arrivals to 10 days: Luhut. https://coconuts.co/jakarta/news/indonesia-to-extend-mandatory-quarantin... Australia might even get 14 days

If I read that article correctly Aussies could potentially be banned completely . I suppose it is a possibility now.
"A ban on all foreign travelers coming from 11 countries and territories with known Omicron cases is still in effect. Indonesians with travel history to these regions are required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Indonesia.
These countries and territories are: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, Eswatini, Malawi, Angola, Zambia, and Hong Kong. It remains to be seen if the ban would be expanded to cover other nations where Omicron has been detected, namely Australia, Canada, and several European countries."
@tubeshooter , yeah I was trying to figure if they meant we get banned or 14 days quarantine , let’s just hope omicron proves to be way less virulent. So far no deaths from those who have got the omicron strain.
I'd be very surprised if omicron wasn’t already in Indonesia , not the most reliable testing at the best of times .
@groundswell , this ones for you, right up your alley . https://www.facebook.com/1638932149670385/posts/3270988716464712/?d=n
Bit Rough...and the utube vid is from 2017.
Some good news:
Quarantine reduced from 7 to 5 days for fully vaccinated starting Feb 4th.
Tourism also will be gradually allowed, regulations concerning the new quarantine period and "tourism" will be issued the coming days.
Source official
Reckon it will be reduced even further come mid-year?
goofyfoot wrote:Reckon it will be reduced even further come mid-year?
Its indo so anything could happen, but hopefully it will be fully scrapped by then, they are said to be reducing it further for Singaporeans soon to 3 days with rumours predicated to extend to other nationalities in time.
Other Asian countries like Philippines have scrapped it all together so if indo wants to get Bali tourist back it will have yo do the same.
Maccas resort posted an update similar to above but also stated the Indo vaccine program would finish by March; implying the end of quarantine travel (mind you 4 days at $30USD a day including breakfast seems pretty cool).
Fingers crossed it’s gone by then but yeah as you said who knows what will happen
Yep fingers and toes crossed to get there (Simuelue/Banyaks/Nias) in July after postponing twice

And posting twice.
Looking into going to Bali for a couple of months around June/July/August. I'm a tightarse and was wondering if anyone knew how much the mandatory 5 day resort quarantine will cost? I couldn't find any where that stated the cost. Is it just for Aussies? Reckon it will be way less crowded with surfers in Canggu then say, July 2019 or much the same?
I've never been but figured this might be a good time.

There’s currently only 5 government approved hotels in nusa dua , jimbaran , ubud and sanur. Cheapest I think was sanur , roughly $880 for 3 meals a day , accommodation, airport transfer and 2 PCR tests https://bali.com/quarantine-hotels-in-bali/ this has now been updated and there’s now more than 5 hotels , I wouldn’t book anything until last minute as by the time you go they may have flicked quarantine or at least shortened it . Surfs gonna be crowded especially where your thinking.
Expensive! Still might be worth it and i guess they'd need the money more than us. Thanks for the quick reply.
Nah there is heaps more now 65 quarantine approved hotels in Bali.

Two types bubble and non bubble.
Bubble- can still go out of room use pool even use private beach at some hotels.
Non bubble- stuck in hotel room only.
All footage ive seen of Bali has been still crazy crowded places like Impossibles a wave people barely bothered surfing 20+ years ago have crowds, so many expats and so many locals and then even now some travellers.
The further you go from Bali though all reports ive seen and heard are crowds like about 90s or earlier, but im betting its going to be busier once the season starts even if quarantine remains.
But really im going to be really surprised if they still have quarantine by then and if they do maybe just a night or two.
Hadn’t seen that link indo , cheers , the link I put up only had 5 hotels listed last week and it wasn’t until I clicked on again that I saw some others had been added. Hopefully it’s not happening at all in 2 or 3 months .
Good news it's now official quarantine reduced from today to 3 days 2 nights if two jabs plus booster.
Seems still 5 days 4 nights if only double vaxed and 6 nights 7 days if one vax.
Rumours quarantine to be scrapped early April.
Also seems they have changed rules around children to follow quarantine needed by parents.
Oh and more good news, appears Omicron wave might have peaked.

great news indo , saves me $900 , can you clarify the rules around unvaccinated children ?
By April 1, there will be no quarantine requirement for any fully vaccinated tourist (defined as three shots) arriving in Bali with a negative COVID test result, and proof of their vaccination status.
That's from an AFR article I just read. I wasn't going to bother with the 3rd shot but this gives me motivation to go get it.
juega, when's that article from? Today?
I've found it. From 15 Feb AFR.
That's brilliant news. I've got a month-long Indo trip planned for early May.
Anyone heard further news on Indonesia's changing quarantine rules?
Reckon we can trust the latest - i.e no quarantine by April?
Got a trip in the pipeline Stu?
goofyfoot wrote:Got a trip in the pipeline Stu?
Yep. Few good deals going around and I'm itching. Bobby's is almost US$500 cheaper if you book and pay by March 1st.

I think that aspect was an unofficial announcement on social media by the minister in charge of related area.
It will most likely happen as it seems they have decided to take a new direction now, but its Indonesia until it's officially announced i don't think you can trust it to happen.
@stunet , at the moment unless you have a indo friend willing to sponsor you , your visa is going to be through an agent and will cost between $300 - $400 . The Bali governor is trying to get Jakarta to reintroduce the visa on arrival as the current visa situation is having a big effect on tourism. If you can get a local sponsor to do the paperwork from Indonesia it’s only about $50 all up , the agencies are charging the extra to be your sponsor. Hopefully not only quarantine rules change soon but also this visa extortion . You cant get a visa from the consulates in Australia at the moment. https://bali.com/bali/corona-virus-bali-indonesia/. https://thebalisun.com/bali-tourism-sector-asks-the-government-to-resume.... https://coconuts.co/bali/news/marked-up-visa-and-quarantine-fees-hurting...
Thanks SF.
Things appear to be changing quickly and I'm almost ready to take a gamble and throw down.

Go in august and I’ll let ya surf behind me
hehehe
You gonna surf out on the shoulder again so Stu can have the barrel, GF? ;)
Haha as soon as I posted that I was thinking ahh shit that doesnt sound right at a wave like gland
Ha ha...yeah GF, you're very welcome to the shoulder.
Reckon I'm going a little earlier than August though. Week there and then a week in Bali with the family.
Just went and felt up the rails of a few longer boards in the shed. Four months and counting...
Half the world will be going to Indonesia when it becomes viable to travel around there again.
I'd be adjusting wave count expectations radically if I was heading up there when it opens up properly.
My brother lives in Java & had to shoot over to Bali to run a couple errands last week. Reckons about 1 in 10 shops / restaurants etc are open

Yeah maybe, I also think this year might still be a bit quieter though as a lot of people will still be uncertain about o/s travel. Wait and see I guess
stunet wrote:Just went and felt up the rails of a few longer boards in the shed. Four months and counting...
Classic. The anticipation is palpable.
Nothing official but it shouldn’t be long and things will be as they were before covid.
Stu have you priced any Air tickets yet ?
Hey guys,
Wondering what the go-to website is for Indonesian news/updates in English?
I'm mostly interested in Covid and international border related news. What's out there?
