[Surf reporter John Charlton just doing his job].
Since...Mid 80's with Brownies Coastwatch T.V. 7 Qld
1960/70's "4GG Skywatch @ Radio Antenna" (Short'n'Sweet surf report tune)
As a grom I thought sky-high surfing of radio waves 'd be the coolest career choice.
Was it Murray Bourton or Murray...? Who was 4GG Skywatch Surf caller.(Anyone!)
Before that... I guess Beach Radio may have chorused Surfs Up!
Plus the many websites that have come and gone over the years.
Mark Warren on 2SM.
Thanks Swellnet... that's a more fitting send off for our star.
Right you are 'thermalben' to include websites.
List extension... (Iconic Website Surf forecasters)
Swellnet Ben our favourite forecaster since 1998.

Cheers to all Surf forecasters for getting out of bed. Shout you all a coffee! Hooroo!
Didn't Phil Jarratt do a Sydney radio surf report back in the day?
I have a memory, maybe it is a dream, of watching a free to air channel's profile of Phil.
Scene : Late at night. Phil, in his room, pouring another drink and lovingly putting on another Frank Sinatra record. I'm pretty sure it was Sinatra's classic, 'In the wee small hours of the morning'.
Cut to dawn, which is only a few hours later. Phil awakes with the alarm and very cautiously and tenderly walks across to the window and opens up the venetian blinds the barest minimum on account of his alcohol-induced light sensitivity. Phil peers at the water thru the ocean glimpse provided from his house which is a couple of hundred metres from his beach. Phil then rings the radio station with his cheery and authoritative daily all-Sydney surf report. Phil then goes back to bed.
It was a pretty neat little film piece.
Phil expands on his surf reporting 'career' in his memoirs, Life Of Brine.
Good memory, Wal. It was a show called GTK on the ABC just before the evening news. The whole filthy story, as Stu says, is in the book, out in a couple of weeks, including adventures with the Pig of Steel and our very short-lived 2JJ Serf Show.
Phil, I was trying to invent some outrageous fictional event to ask if you had included it in the book. Then I realised I couldn't come up with anything that wasn't entirely feasible. Looking forward to a (insert adjective of choice) read.
Ted Bainbridge-'On the beach for 3xy'. early seventies
Just today singing this jingle ...' Mick Carey's Surf and Beach Report'... (A pert swingin' No.)
From 4GG Skywatch came Currumbin Shaper Mick Carey's mid 70's moniker. Surely! Huh!
Late '70's/Early '80's I swear another surfer flew the coop....As I alluded to earlier.
Ending in 80's the title switched to said surf plane hire company's ' Lanhams Beach Report'.
OK! This is a rare surf genre and I'm making little headway. Pleased to say the list is growing!
Be so cool ! Lost tapes with calls of Kirra is cranking..I can see Kegs! Roger/Wilco..
Burleigh is Barrell'n..repeat..Burleigh is Barrell'n/Affirmative. Can you read me! Over! Base?
I recall those Surfair reports were much anticipated & well received. Shh!..OK! ...Tools Down!
Early 80's T.V.News Surf video shot down the Surfair radio Stars.
I swear in Late 70's Bill Bohlman (Stubbies Director) Did Radio Forecasts as with Comp calls!
Anyone got fav' worldly/local Surf reporters/ Surfair jocks?
