Seems as though this proposal is getting legs

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/20-million-artificial-reef-pl...

Anybody see how this plan can make waves that are going to "ease pressure on the superbank crowds?"

Kelly Slater moved into the area recently. I wonder how his engineers would see this.

It seems like a weak attempt to put some erosion control for north Palm Beach, but why not just reinforce the foreshore like they have spent a fortune doing from 2 avenues north of this proposal??

I have no answers, but welcome any input.
Cheers

Seems light on detail but give it go. Good spot to try.

To may variables to really know what it would do, really a flip of the coin to if it would stop erosion.

Wave wise it's also a flip of the coin really depends on how deep the outer reef is, it could break up the swell and produce some nice peaks or it could break up and kill the swell so much that your left with nothing more than puss.

Burleigh and the Alley are also not far away who knows what effect it could have on those waves.

They would need to place several reef that work well in larger swells and handle strong southerlies if there is any chance of easing the crowds on the superbank.

Are you guys reading the same article ?

Doesn't seem at all aimed at creating good waves, its aimed at controlling erosion and is just as likely have a negative impact on the quality or size of waves.

You gotta watch them, they're shifty little bastards and they're patient too.

Yes, light on detail. And funny how our local paper has nothing to say about it.

Is it going to create peaks though?
