I don't know what happens elsewhere but locally there are strictly enforced State Gov't gazetted green wedges stopping this sort of development, well at least for the time being.

I remember reading Bob Mctavish's book where he talks about living in an old farm house on the hill over looking Lennox, as I was reading that it struck me as that moment in time .... of the beauty of Lennox, Byron, Noosa ... all paradises in the sun waiting to be plundered. Ha, Bob talks about finding Lennox as some sort of normal, like there will be other Lennox's up or down the coast ... well there are but not on that coast.

Michael Leunig is a cartoonist and IMO an Australian national living treasure. An early cartoon of his strikes a cord right now .... it shows a real estate agent talking to two birds, he has a bird's beak on his face and he is attempting to sell the sky to the birds ... about sums it up.
