This Saturday 26th September we are having a Daly Head National Surfing Reserve beach clean up day.
Local and visiting surfing and environmental enthusiasts are joining forces to participate. We will be focusing on the coast and cliffs along the Daly Headland between Blue Bay and Dusthole Beach.

The organisers have identified a number of zones to assist a systematic clean up of rubbish washed ashore and on the headland.

Participants are asked to register at the Salmon Hole car park at 9am so they can be allocated one of these zones to work in. The Yorke Peninsula District Council are providing a skip bin to deposit all rubbish for removal.

Hopefully there will be some fun beachies around Dusthole with the northerly winds so crew can enjoy a surf as well as contribute to caring for the local environment.

Later in the afternoon we are planning to have a ‘flashmob’ entertainment event somewhere around the area depending on the weather conditions. There will be food, entertainment and friendly banter on offer for all participants. Those who are familiarwith past events will be aware of the penchant of the group at large to host enjoyable and memorable experiences.

It is asked that participants wear suitable clothing and bring a pair of sturdy gloves.

Further info about the group’s activities can be found at the Daly Head National Surfing Reserve Book on Facebook or by emailing [email protected]

Good idea ... Hope it works out. There is a group of blokes that are promoting 'pick up one'. The idea is to to just pick one piece of rubbish as you walk back from a surf, swim or walk on the beach. It's easy, effective and does make a difference. Saves organising a larger event as your event. Mind you if there is some large junk that needs to be removed then yes, you need to get equipment in. The aim of 'pick up one' is awareness and its simplicity. Good luck on the clean up.
