Just after some opinions about longboards. Im riding a 9 4 log at the moment and want to spend more time on the nose. If you had a spare $700 where would you look? Thanks

What size are you looking for?

Looking at 9 foot plus. The log is a cool board but it is a lot like an ironing board. I've always ridden short boards but I really like the laid back longboard style. Is there a big difference between the epoxy and glass boards?

If you're wanting more tip time & less feel of doing the ironing, you need to upgrade to a 'performance mal' with Noserider charachteristics. Look for pulled in tail, maybe a pin, more area in nose & possibly a visible 'scoop' concave at nose. Slight rolled V in tail also helps to 'suck' the tail of the board onto the curl. Difference b/w Epoxy & Poly /PU boards is huge IMHO. Poly/PU boards are stiffer, heavier , but have more momentum & 'glide' than an Epoxy. Good for small waves & easier to paddle. Epoxies are light , somewhat 'corky', and feel much more 'alive' than a Poly/PU board. Harder to catch waves (possibly), but incredibly responsive, and at times the lightness of the board is a big plus (not in howling offshores however). Hope this helps.

PS at $700 you will have to go secondhand, as new, a good custom PU / off the shelf Epoxy will cost you somewhere north of $1200 EVEN IF YOU MANAGE TO SNIFF OUT A BARGAIN.
