Surfed with him and Willy Morris a bit around then, one memorable session at sizeable boneyards in Jeffreys Bay, just the 3 of us, as good as it gets. Under rated surfers, these guys ripped and pushed my surfing up a few notches too.

The video shop copy (with Kong's Island) took a beating when we were grommets.

Wes was a great surfer from the '80's. Little gangly in the anklesnappers but came into his own in the juice. Like Owen Wright he used his long limbs to advantage by swinging and projecting for extension.

His brother, Randy, was one of the world's best jet-ski rider and used to do exhibition shows at comps in the 80's. Along with Kong and Martin Potter, Wes holds the title as one of the world's first towsurfers, towed into Pipe by his brother on a small stand-up Yamaha jet-ski.
