If you're talking cleanest I would say SE koolbeans.

Most spots on the Mid Coast have a slight bit of protection from the SE wind, while NE winds tend to blow down the gulf a bit more and add unwanted peaks to the surf.

Even S/SE is OK at some spots on the Mid, while N/NE is terrible.
