Took the mal (9'6") out in strong 4ft yesterday. Had to bail and now have hairlines riddled all over my bottom. Goner? Or is it still a goer for the smaller stuff?

Not necessarily.
I kooked it on a shorty a few years ago: booty caught on a slabby backhand takeoff, so I came down onto the flats with my front knee smearing across the deck. Made a solid furrow diagonally on the deck, and there are lots of hairline cracks on the bottom.

Fixed the deck, and have kept surfing the board in good waves, incl Indo. No sign of further issues.

Is yours creased (or has hairlines) straight across? That would be a bad sign.

Unfortunately I am not much good to you in the field of hairline cracks. My hairline is performing magnificently, and is showing no signs of cracking whatsoever. In a nutshell, I think obviously benno is best equipped(sic) to offer unlimited advice re hairline cracks.
